Co-founder, President and Chief Investment Officer

Ron oversees the development and implementation of investment strategies and tactics for Rampart. He has created a variety of analytical and management tools including the Rampart Time Premium Index, published each week in Barron’s, the Rampart Volatility Indexes and the Rampart Options Management System (ROMS), the technological platform from which Rampart’s portfolio managers deliver the company’s equity options management expertise.

A long time proponent of hedged equities as an asset class, Ron has focused on helping create an industry benchmark for options programs. The creation and subsequent launch of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), CBOE/S&P 500 BuyWrite Index (BXM) in 2002 was the realization of that objective.  On March 27, 2003 the CBOE announced Rampart as its first licensee of the BXM, which became the strategic basis for Rampart’s new index option investment vehicles.

Ron is frequently quoted in the business and financial press about volatility, options and trends in options investment and has appeared in Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters and Pensions & Investments. He has been a speaker at Boston University and Boston College and has been a regular presenter at the annual Risk Management Conference sponsored by the CBOE.

Ron is a Trustee of the U.S.S. Constitution Museum and a member of the CBOE Institutional Investor Advisory Committee. He is a graduate of the Owner President Management Program (OPM 30) at Harvard Business School and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University. He served in the US Army/US Army Reserves. Additionally, he holds registrations 7 (General Securities Representative) and 24 (General Securities Principal) for Rampart Securities, Inc., a FINRA member limited purpose broker/dealer.
